BIO

Bram Sniekers was born in Roermond, the etherlands. He began his musical studies at Thorn, and later studied trumpet and orchestra conducting at the Conservatory of Maastricht with Theo Wolters, Enrico Delamboye, Jan Stulen and Jan Cober; He has also participated in master classes of conducting with Pierre Kuijpers and Vince Mendoza, and trumpet with Frits Damrow, Hakan Hardenberger, Bo Nilson and Allan Vizutti.

 

He won the 2nd prize in SJMN (National Federation of Young musical talent in the Netherlands) and in 2007, he was finalist in the International Course of Conducting at Hilversum (Netherlands), conducting the Symphony Orchestra "Metropole Orkest" of the Dutch Radio.

Since he moved to Spain in July 2007 until October 2014 he was chief conductor of the Lalín Symphony Wind Band, which has been said in the words of experts, under the baton of Sniekers became one of the best in Europe. With it he recorded five albums collaborating with international publishers such as World Wind Music, Baton Music and Amstel Music. His conducting has been hailed highlighting his sharpness, detail, exquisite interpretation and extraordinary musicality by musicians as Theo Wolters (Assistant Conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Johan De Meij (Composer), Arno Piters (Clarinet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) and Jorge Luis Prats (Pianist), among many others.

Thanks to his prestige, important recording works have been especially entrusted to Sniekers by famous composers such as Johan de Meij (Netherlands), Oscar Navarro and Ferrer Ferrán (Spain). Additionally, he has conducted soloists as Frits Damrow (Trumpet soloist Concertgebouw Orchestra), Arno Piters (Clarinet Concertgebouw Orchestra), Perry Hoogendijk (solo tuba Concertgebouw Orchestra), Rene Pagen (soloist horn Residentie Orkest The Hague) and cellist Nitzan Laster (Symphony Orchestra of the Dutch Opera).

 

Part of his extensive experience includes invitations to conduct the orchestra Real Filharmonia de Galicia, the Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra and Choir of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria, the Metropole Orchestra of the Dutch Radio, the Municipal Band of La Coruña, Symphonic Impulse (Netherlands), the Municipal Band of Pontevedra and the Ourense Municipal Band, among others.

 

Additionally, he has had a distinguished and successful career as a trumpet being soloist at the NJO (National Youth Orchestra of Holland) and the KMK (Koninklijke Militaire Kapel) in The Hague, and for his collaborations with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Nederlands Radio Symfonie, Radio Kamer Orkest, Radio Filharmonisch, Residentie Orkest, Brabants Orkest, Limburgs Symfonie, Het Gelders Orkest, Nederlands Philharmonisch , Nederlands Kamer Orkest, the Symphony Orchestra of Castilla and Leon, Real Filharmonia de Galicia, Cadaqués Orchestra and the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, among others.

 

He has also appeared as soloist playing Haydn, Hummel, Aratiunian and Mailman´s concerts in Canada, Russia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. Added to this, he has performed as a trumpet player with conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Riccardo Chailly, Mstislav Rostropovitsj, Michael Tilson Thomas, John Adams, Gerd Albrecht, Claus Peter Flor, Paul Daniel, Sir Neville Marriner, Hans Vonk, Mark Wigglesworth and Eri Klas, among others.

 

Sniekers cofounded and is conductor of Galicia Brass, a group born of his and the musicians of the orchestra Real Filharmonia de Galicia initiative, and he is also artistic director of the Music Conservatory of Lalin

and his Orchestra since 2007.
